The plane with gifts for Ukraine landed in Balice

The plane with gifts for Ukraine safely reached Poland. Last week, 33 pallets of medical materials intended for the victims of the war in Ukraine were delivered from France to Poland. This is the result of cooperation between the ADRA Polska Foundation and the French Civil Protection organization. The plane landed on April 11 at 13.00 at the airport in Krakow-Balice. On the way back, places on the plane were taken by refugees from Ukraine, for whom the organization will provide shelter in France.

The situation in some Ukrainian regions is extremely dramatic. The shortcomings in access to medications and medications are particularly acute for the residents. Several tons of medical materials provided by the French organization Civil Protection, thanks to our volunteers, ADRA and Civil Protection employees, were transferred to a truck and were immediately transported by the ADRA Polska humanitarian convoy to a designated place in Ukraine. On the way back, places on the plane were taken by people fleeing the war in Ukraine, who were sheltered by the organization in France.

Cooperation between ADRA Polska and Civil Protection

So far, the ADRA Polska Foundation has received transports with gifts, incl. from Sweden, Austria, Germany, Italy and Luxembourg. Thanks to the donors’ commitment, the Foundation regularly sends humanitarian shipments to Ukraine. Some of them are transported by trucks, and some by a convoy of two buses filled with gifts, which on the way back are used to evacuate the inhabitants of Ukraine to Poland.

Transporting medical materials from France by plane is just the beginning of the cooperation between the ADRA Polska Foundation and the Civil Protection organization (French: Fédération nationale de protection civile). In the following weeks, regular shipments of gifts from France to Poland are planned. The humanitarian aid provided by the French organization will then be transported by ADRA Polska humanitarian convoys to Ukraine.

Aid for the victims of the war in Ukraine flows to us from all over the world. Every week, gifts from various countries are delivered to the warehouses of the ADRA Polska Foundation. However, this is the first time that we are transported by plane. It is a big logistic undertaking for us, but in the last few days we have been working hard to collect gifts from France without any obstacles – emphasizes Katarzyna Matysik from the ADRA Polska Foundation.
