Humanitarian Efforts – A Chance for a Better Life

Natural disasters, lack of drinking water, and, as a result, famine—this is the daily reality for millions of people around the world. According to the latest research, the prolonged presence of hunger in various regions is primarily influenced by wars, climate change, and, in recent years, the long-lasting effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

One in five people in Africa suffers from chronic malnutrition. The situation is equally dire in South Asia and the Middle East. International aid has never been more crucial than today, as the global humanitarian crisis reaches an unprecedented scale. We are witnessing an ever-growing divide between wealthy nations and those struggling with poverty. Globalization is advancing rapidly, making these disparities even more evident.

Emergency Relief – Only the Beginning

The ADRA Foundation, thanks to the generosity of its donors and international cooperation, never remains indifferent to crises. We strive to reach those in need, wherever help is most urgently required. Supporting the vulnerable is not only our moral duty but also a step toward a safer, more sustainable world.

For years, we have been providing humanitarian aid to countries affected by conflicts, wars, and natural disasters. We organize the delivery of essential supplies, including drinking water, food, clothing, medicines, and survival materials for critical situations. However, we are also committed to long-term development and support for those affected by conflicts. Our experience has shown that emergency relief is just the first step in providing the necessary, long-term assistance that follows.

Humanitarian Aid in the War Zones of Ukraine

ADRA Poland launched its humanitarian aid efforts in the very first days of the conflict. Our swift response was crucial, as this initial period was the most traumatic for the citizens of Ukraine.

Since the war began, we have sent 43 humanitarian convoys to Ukraine, delivering approximately 220 tons of goods, as well as several power generators. These generators provided heating and warm meals in freezing buildings during the harsh winter months.

Between March and September 2022, we also facilitated evacuations from Ukraine through two key initiatives: chartering buses to transport people to Poland and raising funds to purchase five minibuses. Four of these vehicles were used inside Ukraine and handed over to ADRA Ukraine, while one was used to transport aid supplies.

Assistance for Ukrainian Refugees in Poland

The war triggered by Russia in Ukraine has led to the largest migration crisis since World War II. By the end of 2022, a staggering 11.6 million Ukrainians had been forced to leave their homes. Of these, approximately 5.7 million sought refuge outside Ukraine, with as many as 4 million arriving in Poland.

We could not remain indifferent to the fate of these war refugees. This extraordinary situation compelled us to step up our efforts, engaging even more intensively and working tirelessly to provide aid. We established seven Centers for Foreigners’ Integration across Poland.

These centers offer comprehensive expert assistance, including psychological support, career counseling, integration guidance, Polish language courses, legal advice, and access to certified translators.

Every Refugee Will Receive Our Support

Regardless of the situation beyond our eastern border, the ADRA Foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting refugees and migrants from all over the world.

We stand with all those who, due to war, disasters, or persecution, are forced to leave their homes. Our employees and volunteers work tirelessly to provide aid where it is needed most.

Let us remember that most of these vulnerable individuals leave behind everything they own, fleeing in fear and desperation—simply trying to save their lives and those of their loved ones.
